The Future Save can be enabled on any Pre-Save Link, as well as through an Action button on the Bio Link. If an artist does not have a scheduled release coming up, they can still use a Pre-Save Link as a dedicated landing page for collecting Future Save Fans.
How it works
First, be sure that the Future Save has been configured with the artist profile URLs. You can do that by opening the Link Creation modal in the Smart Links dashboard (click the green + sign), and selecting the Configure option under Future Save. Be sure to toggle Status to ON.
Once the Future Save has been configured with the artist profile URLs, return to the Smart Link Creation modal and select Create under Pre-Save Link.
Just below the Release Date, you will see an option to Enable Future Save, be sure this is toggled to the ON setting.
Because there is no scheduled release date, you will setup the Pre-Save Link as an Evergreen Pre-Save. This means you can leave the Scan Source field blank, and set the Release Date to several months ahead (we recommend at least six months, up to one year out). The intention here is to avoid having the link convert from a Pre-Save to a Released Link, which cannot be undone.
Recommendations
We recommend editing the Link Settings as follows:
- Link URL: artistnamefuturesave
- Title: Join [Artist Name] Future Save
- Description: Pre-save now to receive all future releases from [Artist Name]!
- Successful Pre-Save Message: Thank you for being such a loyal fan! All new releases will be automatically added to your library. (Most importantly, we recommend removing the {title} and {releaseDate} from this message since this Pre-Save is not for a specific release.)
Considerations and additional notes
- Once you have another release scheduled, create a separate Pre-Save Link with proper Scan Source and Release Date added. You can continue collecting Future Save Fans via both links, but having a dedicated Pre-Save Link for the next release is necessary in order for the music to be added to all Future Save Fans' libraries.
- The Future Save tool works based on Artist ID Matching, meaning that whichever artist profile is configured on the Future Save must match with the artist ID of any release. If they do not match, the Future Saves will fail to deliver.
- If any artist profile URLs are removed from the Future Save configuration, all Future Save Fans will be automatically unsubscribed from the Future Save for those platforms.
- You can edit the "Release Date" of the Future Save landing page (aka Evergreen Pre-Save) at any point as needed.
