Activities allow you to track activity on your smart links in a more granular way. In addition to Channel Tracking, you can tag every smart link URL with a unique ID or "activity" to see where fans are clicking from at the level of an individual social post, email, or ad set.

Similar to UTM parameters, Activities allow you to track audience engagement and segment page analytics by an individual campaign, newsletter, or post even within one channel (e.g. email, Facebook, TikTok, etc).

Why Use Activities

When promoting an artist's bio, upcoming release, podcast, tour date, or merch sales, chances are you will promote it multiple times through the same channel, e.g Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, website, blog or email.

By adding a unique ID or "activity" to the URL for each individual post, email, or campaign, you will be able to measure the results of each of those individually. This is incredibly insightful when A/B testing and/or running multiple campaigns around the same event or release, so you can isolate which campaign elements are performing the best.

How to Use Activities

To add Activity tracking to your links, copy the main URL or Channel-specific link from your dashboard, then manually add !activityID to the URL ending, replacing "activityID" with any unique ID correlated to the post, promotion, or ad.

Example 1: An email newsletter is sent out on October 12

Main URL: https://feature.fm

Email Channel link: https://feature.fm.OEM

Email Channel link with unique Activity ID: https://feature.fm.OEM!newsletter1012

Example 2: An Instagram ad promoting an upcoming release goes live on May 15

Main URL: https://feature.fm

Paid Instagram Channel link: https://feature.fm.PIN

Paid Instagram Channel link with unique Activity ID: https://feature.fm.PIN!IGad515

Where Activity Insights can be viewed

Activity data can be viewed from the Insights page of any smart link. If Activities have been used on that link and fans have engaged with a URL that has an Activity ID, the Page Visits, Clicks to Service, and other completed actions will appear in the Activities block of the Insights page:

Are there any limitations to Activities?

The ID you can use for your activity has the following limitations:

  • Max 50 characters
  • No special characters
  • No punctuation
  • For direct-to-store links, you add the activity ID (e.g. !FBad1) before /storename. So the URL for a Direct Spotify link with Activity ID would be: https://feature.fm.PIN!IGad515/spotify
